Tauranga City Council
Community Engagement Campaign for Long Term Planning
Tauranga is New Zealand's 5th largest city and fastest growing!
The Council was seeking to create a long-term plan for the Mount Maunganui area, supported by an overall vision for where the city is heading and what matters most to the community.
Enabling the things that needed to be changed as well as protecting the things people loved about the area.
To inform this, the Council engaged with residents, businesses, and cultural groups to better understand what they love about the area and what they would like to see change in the future.
The focus was on values and ideals rather than formal submissions on specific topics. We encouraged a wide range of views from people of all ages and backgrounds.
I shaped the campaign strategy, execution, and reporting across print, digital, and social platforms.
The result was over 1,000 pieces of feedback from both long-term residents and newcomers—ranging from making the city safer for their children to influencing large-scale infrastructure projects.
